A senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Akbar Velayati, has warned that any military strike on Iran’s power plants could plunge the entire Middle East into darkness.
His statement comes in response to recent threats by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who has reportedly suggested targeting Iran’s critical infrastructure—including power stations and bridges—if Tehran fails to meet demands related to the Strait of Hormuz.
In a message posted on social media, Velayati cautioned that such attacks would not be confined to Iran alone. Instead, the impact could spread across the region, disrupting energy systems and leaving multiple countries without electricity.
Addressing Arab leaders, he urged them to take proactive diplomatic measures to prevent escalation. He emphasized that the Persian Gulf is “not a place for gambling” and called on regional governments to convey this message clearly to Washington.
The warning highlights growing concerns over the vulnerability of energy infrastructure in the Middle East, a region heavily dependent on interconnected power and oil networks. Any major disruption could have far-reaching economic and geopolitical consequences.
The situation remains tense as hostilities involving Iran, United States, and Israel continue to escalate.
