Trump–Netanyahu Meeting in Washington on Wednesday, Iran to Dominate Talks

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet US President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday, with Iran expected to be at the center of discussions, Netanyahu’s office said.
The meeting will focus on Iran-related issues, including ongoing diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, as well as broader regional developments. The information was confirmed by Netanyahu’s office and reported by the British news agency Reuters.
According to the statement, Netanyahu believes any agreement with Iran must include restrictions on Tehran’s ballistic missile programme and an end to Iran’s support for regional proxy groups.
This will be the seventh meeting between Trump and Netanyahu since Trump began his second term as president. Although the meeting was originally scheduled for February 18, it was brought forward amid renewed diplomatic momentum on the Iran issue. No official reason was given for the change in date.
The meeting comes shortly after indirect nuclear talks between US and Iranian officials were held in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Both sides have indicated that further discussions are likely in the near future.
A regional diplomat familiar with the talks told Reuters that Iran has insisted on preserving its right to enrich uranium in negotiations with the United States. However, Iran’s missile programme was not discussed during those talks.
Iranian officials have previously made it clear that they are unwilling to include missile issues in negotiations and are seeking international recognition of their right to uranium enrichment.
