London, Jan 6, 2026 — Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on a six-year contract, the club confirmed on Tuesday. The 41-year-old succeeds Enzo Maresca, who was dismissed last Thursday.
Rosenior, previously in charge of French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, announced during his farewell press conference earlier on Tuesday that he had reached a verbal agreement to join Chelsea. The Premier League club later made the appointment official.
In a statement published on Chelsea’s official website, Rosenior said he was “delighted and honoured” to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club.
Speculation linking Rosenior with the Chelsea job had been growing since Maresca’s departure last week. Both Chelsea and Strasbourg are owned by the BlueCo consortium, which facilitated the move between the two clubs.
Rosenior now faces the task of stabilising Chelsea and steering the club forward under a long-term vision following another managerial change at Stamford Bridge.
