Bangladesh has raised jet fuel prices for the fourth time in four months, further increasing operating costs for the aviation sector.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Thursday increased the price of jet fuel for domestic flights by Tk 6.32 per litre, raising it from Tk 182.71 to Tk 189.03.
For international flights operated by both domestic and foreign airlines, the price has been set at $1.1637 per litre.
According to a BERC press release, the revised prices will come into effect at midnight on November 5.
Jet fuel prices for domestic aviation have risen steadily over the past four months. A litre cost Tk 159.52 in August, increasing to Tk 165.65 in September and Tk 182.71 in October. The latest adjustment brings the price to Tk 189.03 in November.
BERC said the latest price adjustment was based on average international Platts rates for Jet A-1 fuel and the US dollar exchange rate applied to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation’s (BPC) letter of credit settlements.
The commission reviewed international market prices between October 5 and November 4, 2026. A committee subsequently recommended adjusting November’s prices based on the average Platts rate and the relevant exchange rate.
Following a review at a public hearing on November 5, BERC finalised the revised rates.
The commission said the pricing mechanism was introduced following a price revision of Jet A-1 fuel on May 13, 2025, in response to proposals from BPC and Padma Oil Company Limited under Sections 34(4) and 34(6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003. Since then, prices have been adjusted monthly in line with international Platts rates.
The latest increase comes amid a series of hikes in domestic energy prices. On November 2, BERC raised the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder by Tk 223 to Tk 2,060, up from Tk 1,837. Diesel prices have also been increased several times recently.
