Mumbai, Aug. 7: Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited film Awarapan 2 has received clearance from India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), but only after undergoing nine mandatory edits, including the removal of four minutes of footage.
According to the censor certificate dated Aug. 5, 2026, the film has been awarded a UA16+ rating, making it suitable for viewers aged 16 and above under parental guidance.
Following the edits, the movie’s final approved runtime stands at 140 minutes and 20 seconds (2 hours, 20 minutes, and 20 seconds). The film will be released in Hindi with English subtitles.
The CBFC directed the filmmakers to include statutory disclaimers related to drug abuse and child trafficking, along with anti-drug messages at multiple points in the film and a permanent anti-smoking warning. The Hindi title of the film was also incorporated as part of the certification requirements.
The board further instructed the makers to replace abusive language in both the audio and subtitles. Several violent sequences were shortened, including one scene where the intensity of violence was reduced by 50 percent. A scene depicting drug use was also trimmed, while the end credits were adjusted to align with the film’s soundtrack.
Overall, the CBFC ordered the deletion of four minutes of footage and the replacement of an additional 20-second sequence before granting certification.
