Ronaldo Becomes First Footballer in History to Score 950 Goals

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo has added another new chapter to his illustrious career. The Portuguese superstar has become the first footballer in history to reach the milestone of 950 career goals by scoring in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday against Al Hazm.

He scored in the 88th minute of the match. That goal also secured a 2–0 victory for Al Nassr. It was Ronaldo’s sixth league goal of the current season and seventh in total.

Ever since joining Al Nassr after leaving Manchester United in December 2022, CR7 seems to have rediscovered his spark. He has already scored more than a hundred goals for the Saudi club.

A day before Ronaldo achieved this milestone, his long-time rival Lionel Messi broke Ronaldo’s previous record. Messi is now the fastest to reach 890 goals. In a 3–1 victory for Inter Miami over Nashville in Major League Soccer, Messi scored twice, taking his tally to 891 goals.

Even though both players are nearing the final stages of their careers, neither seems stoppable. Messi reached 890 goals at the age of 38 years and 122 days — the youngest to do so. Ronaldo, in comparison, reached that mark at 39 years and 89 days. Messi needed 1,131 matches to hit the milestone — Ronaldo required 1,220 matches.

The rivalry that once electrified La Liga has now spread across two continents — yet the passion and excitement remain the same. Messi has extended his contract with Inter Miami until 2028, while Ronaldo will stay with Al Nassr until 2027.

Ronaldo’s Career Goals (Club and Country):

Manchester United (England): 145

Real Madrid (Spain): 450

Juventus (Italy): 101

Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia): 106

Total: 950 goals
