Washington, D.C., October 20, 2025 — The President of the United States has extended his greetings to millions of Americans celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights, emphasizing the occasion’s deeper meaning of hope and the victory of good over evil.

In an official statement issued by the White House, the President said, “Today, I send my best wishes to every American celebrating Diwali—the ‘Festival of Lights.’ For many Americans, Diwali is a timeless reminder of light’s victory over darkness. It is also a time to bring families and friends together to celebrate community, draw strength from hope, and embrace a lasting spirit of renewal.”

He added that as millions light diyas and lanterns across the country, “we rejoice in the eternal truth that good will always triumph over evil.”

Concluding his message, the President wished all celebrants serenity, prosperity, hope, and peace.

Diwali, one of the most significant festivals in Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism, symbolizes new beginnings and the triumph of light over darkness. The festival is widely celebrated across the United States by Indian-American communities and other devotees of the tradition.
