Russian Missile Strike Kills 11 in Dnipro as Zelenskiy Urges NATO for Support

DNIPRO, Ukraine – A Russian missile strike on Tuesday killed at least 11 people and injured over 150 in southeastern Ukraine, with the brunt of the damage concentrated in the city of Dnipro, local officials said.Nine of the fatalities occurred in Dnipro, where missiles damaged a passenger train, schools, a hospital, and a residential building, according to regional governor Serhiy Lysak. Among the 153 injured were 18 children. Two more deaths were reported in nearby Samar.The rare daytime attack came as President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed a NATO summit in the Netherlands, urging Western allies to strengthen investment in Ukraine’s defense industry and block the flow of foreign components used in Russian weapons.“This is not a fight where it’s hard to choose a side,” Zelenskiy wrote on X. “Standing with Ukraine means defending life.”Zelenskiy is expected to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump during the summit as Ukraine faces a renewed wave of Russian aerial attacks. Just a week earlier, 28 people were killed in the deadliest missile strike on Kyiv this year.In Dnipro, stunned residents stood before shattered buildings and smashed vehicles. One local priest, Serhii Narolskyi, said he was conducting a church service when the missile struck. “In a split second, all the windows and doors were gone,” he said.
