June 13, 2025 —Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday visited the site of the devastating Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad, where he reviewed ongoing rescue and recovery efforts and met with officials and emergency response teams working around the clock in the aftermath of the tragedy.Speaking at the crash site, Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives.“The scene of devastation is saddening. Our thoughts remain with those who lost their loved ones in this unimaginable tragedy,” the Prime Minister said.During the visit, Modi was briefed on the status of the rescue operations, victim identification efforts, and support being provided to the injured and to the families of the deceased. He also interacted with members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police, firefighters, and medical teams engaged in the response.Government sources said that Modi has instructed central and state authorities to provide all necessary assistance to victims’ families and to expedite the investigation into the cause of the crash.Earlier this week, the Air India flight, carrying 242 passengers and crew, crashed while approaching Ahmedabad airport, resulting in significant casualties and injuries. A national day of mourning was declared across India following the disaster.Rescue operations at the crash site are continuing, as officials work to clear debris and recover evidence to aid investigators.
