The Voice News:
India has strongly condemned the June 8 attack on Rabindra Kachharibari in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj, urging Bangladesh’s interim government to take firm action against those responsible.
During a media briefing, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal called the act “despicable,” describing it as a disgrace to Rabindranath Tagore’s legacy and the inclusive values he promoted. Jaiswal said the incident fits a troubling pattern of attacks aimed at eroding Bangladesh’s cultural harmony.
The vandalism reportedly resulted from a dispute over motorcycle parking. A group of young men broke into the site and damaged the auditorium, doors, and windows. However, the museum dedicated to Tagore remained intact, according to custodian Habibur Rahman.
India emphasized its desire for a constructive relationship with Bangladesh rooted in mutual respect and cultural ties. When asked about reports of Sheikh Hasina’s son visiting Delhi for Eid, Jaiswal said he had no information to confirm.
