India Reacts Strongly to Comments from Dhaka Blaming ‘Indian Hegemony’ for Bangladesh’s Political Crisis

India has issued a strong response to recent remarks from Dhaka that blamed “Indian hegemony” for the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs dismissed the accusation as an attempt to deflect responsibility.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday, Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “It is the responsibility of the government of Bangladesh to address its administrative challenges. From the comments we are hearing, it appears they are trying to shift the blame onto others.”

He added, “We would like to remind the government of Bangladesh that the internal challenges they are facing must be addressed by themselves.”

“Blaming external actors for the crisis does not help resolve any problems,” Jaiswal emphasized.

India’s remarks follow recent reports in Bangladeshi media that Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government, made comments about the political crisis during meetings with various political parties.

Analysts say this rare and explicit diplomatic response from India may signal growing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
