Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Weapons Factories, Kyiv Claims

The Voice News:, May 28 (Reuters) – Ukraine announced that it carried out a major overnight drone attack targeting several Russian weapons manufacturing sites. Russia, however, claimed its air defenses intercepted the assault.

According to Ukraine’s military, key facilities hit include:

The Kronstadt plant in Dubna near Moscow, which produces drones.

The Raduga plant, a manufacturer of cruise missiles.

The Angstrem microchip factory in Zelenograd, which reportedly supplies components for Russia’s military-industrial complex.

Footage circulating online showed smoke and fire at the Zelenograd tech park where Angstrem is located. While Reuters confirmed the location of the videos, it could not verify when they were recorded.

Ukraine’s general staff also reported a successful drone strike a day earlier on a chemical plant in Russia’s Ivanovo region. The plant is said to produce explosive materials and fuel additives used in rockets and aircraft.

Russia’s defense ministry responded, saying it shot down 296 Ukrainian drones across 13 regions overnight. However, Ukraine did not detail the specific weapons used in the attacks, though a security official confirmed drones were involved, as Ukraine lacks long-range missile capabilities.

As with many reports during the conflict, Reuters could not independently verify either side’s claims.
