Khalilur Rahman Declared Persona Non Grata at All Military Cantonments in Bangladesh

The Voice News: Khalilur Rahman, the National Security Adviser and High Representative of Bangladesh, also known as Roger Rahman, has been declared persona non grata (unwelcome) at all military cantonments across the country. Bddigest.com has published a report on this regard.

Multiple sources affiliated with the Bangladesh Army confirmed the matter on Wednesday, May 28.

According to the sources, military police assigned to security duties have already received verbal instructions prohibiting Khalilur Rahman from entering any military cantonment or other key military installations in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, government sources have indicated that Khalilur Rahman may resign at any time.

In recent weeks, Rahman has been at the center of widespread national controversy on various issues. Most recently, he returned from a visit to Doha, Qatar, on Monday—a trip that has sparked intense debate amid discussions over a proposed “humanitarian corridor” in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. Simultaneously, the Bangladesh Army has reiterated its firm stance on protecting national sovereignty, securing critical state assets, and maintaining law and order throughout the country.

Speaking to journalists at the Army Officers’ Mess in Dhaka Cantonment, a colonel-ranked officer from the Army’s Military Operations Directorate stated, “The army is united. We have not compromised on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. This is our country, and we will protect it at any cost.”

This military briefing took place just hours after Khalilur Rahman’s return from Doha.

Government sources claim Rahman’s trip was “consultative.” However, several officials have said that he (Roger Rahman) visited Qatar to invite the daughter of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.
