Medvedev Threatens Trump with World War III over Putin Criticism

The Voice News: Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of Russia’s highest security agency, the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev has threatened U.S. President Donald Trump with World War III for criticizing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Medvedev said:

“Trump recently said that Putin is ‘playing with fire’ and that something ‘really bad’ is going to happen with Russia soon. In my view, the only thing that can be considered ‘really bad’ is a third world war. I hope Trump understands what I mean.”

Medvedev, a close confidant and loyal ally of Putin, served as President of Russia from 2008 to 2012 and as Prime Minister from 2012 to 2020—both roles he reportedly held at Putin’s behest.

Trump’s Frustration with Putin

After winning the U.S. presidential election in November 2024, Trump declared that ending the Russia-Ukraine war would be a top priority. Following his inauguration on January 20, he actively began working on this issue.

Recently, under the joint initiative and mediation of Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, officials from Russia and Ukraine sat down for peace talks in Ankara. However, during the ongoing dialogue, Ukrainian forces launched over a thousand drones targeting Moscow and other Russian cities on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

In response, Russia launched retaliatory drone strikes over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), resulting in the deaths of 13 people in Ukraine.

Following these attacks, Trump sharply criticized Putin, saying:

“Putin has gone completely mad. What he doesn’t realize is that if I weren’t here, some really terrible things would have already happened with Russia… I repeat, really terrible. Putin is playing with fire.”

Just two days after this statement, Medvedev responded on social media, delivering his stern warning.
