Trump Administration Decides to Cancel All Financial Agreements with Harvard

The Voice News: The Trump administration has decided to cancel all remaining federal financial agreements with Harvard University.

According to separate reports from AFP and Al Jazeera, a senior U.S. official disclosed the decision on Tuesday (May 27).

AFP reported that this move is seen as the Trump administration’s latest attempt to impose unprecedented scrutiny on Harvard.

As part of the plan, the federal government will send letters to all relevant agencies on Tuesday, asking them to review any financial contracts they have with Harvard and determine whether they can be canceled or transferred elsewhere.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, the senior official stated, “The administration will today instruct relevant federal agencies to examine their agreements with Harvard and determine if those contracts are subject to cancellation.”

Analysts believe that this step will place one of the United States’ oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education under new political pressure.

Al Jazeera reported that the Trump administration is preparing to cancel all types of federal or government agreements with Harvard, one of the most influential educational institutions in the U.S. As a result, nearly $100 million in federal grants and contracts could be at risk for the university.

On Tuesday, The New York Times and Reuters reported that the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has drafted a letter instructing all federal agencies to review and potentially cancel their existing agreements with Harvard.
