India to Launch Anti-Terror Campaign in 33 Countries

The Voice News: India has decided to launch an anti-terrorism awareness campaign in 33 countries to present its stance against terrorism. Seven Indian delegations, comprising members of various political parties, will visit these countries by next Sunday to represent the country’s position.

The delegations include leaders from ruling and opposition parties, such as Shashi Tharoor (Congress), Kanimozhi (DMK), and Supriya Sule (NCP). There were some initial disagreements regarding delegation members, but they have since been resolved.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held a briefing with the delegation members on Tuesday about representing India’s perspective abroad.

Countries to Be Visited:

The selected countries include the USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Egypt, Qatar, South Africa, and others.

India aims to raise global awareness of how Pakistan allegedly supports terrorism. Delegation members will share India’s narrative with foreign governments, emphasizing national unity in the fight against terrorism.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that all seven delegations will deliver a unified message: India is united in its fight against terrorism.

Historical Context:

Senior journalist Sharad Gupta noted that such bipartisan foreign missions have occurred before. During former PM Narasimha Rao’s tenure, opposition leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee was sent to represent India at a UN meeting. This campaign is being seen as a similar demonstration of national unity, especially following recent terror incidents like the Pahalgam attack.
