According to a CNN report, the breakthrough came after Washington received alarming intelligence indicating a potential escalation in the ongoing conflict along the India-Pakistan border.
US Vice President JD Vance personally called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging immediate talks with Pakistan to prevent a broader war. The call was prompted by classified intelligence assessments that suggested the situation could spiral into a major military confrontation over the weekend.
A central US team — including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and interim National Security Advisor — was closely monitoring the crisis. The intelligence reportedly pointed to a dangerous turn in the conflict, prompting the White House to step up its involvement.
Following Vance’s call, US diplomatic channels were activated to facilitate communication between the two countries. Although the US did not draft or directly participate in the ceasefire agreement, its efforts helped reestablish dialogue between India and Pakistan.
