India Blocks YouTube Access to Four Bangladeshi TV Channels

India has blocked access to four Bangladeshi private television channels on YouTube. Following a request from the Indian government, YouTube has restricted the channels from being viewed within India.

The blocked channels are Jamuna Television, Ekattor TV, Banglavision, and Mohona Television.

According to a report by fact-checking organization Dismislab, users in India attempting to access these channels receive a message stating that the content is unavailable due to a government order related to national security or public order.

Jamuna Television confirmed to Dismislab that YouTube had officially informed them about the restriction, which applies to both past and future broadcasts, based on India’s request.

This is a case of geo-blocking, where access to online content is restricted based on the user’s geographical location. While these Bangladeshi channels remain accessible globally, viewers in India can no longer watch them on YouTube.
