U.S. President has reportedly expressed a belief that he is the most powerful man in world history, surpassing historical figures such as , , , and , according to an upcoming book by New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan.
The book, titled Regime Change, claims Trump referred to a document arguing that he possessed greater authority than some of history’s most infamous rulers. According to the authors, Trump read from the document and compared his presidential power with that of ancient and modern conquerors.
“They didn’t have airplanes, did they?” Trump reportedly said while discussing figures like , Roman emperors, and William the Conqueror, suggesting modern presidential power far exceeds historical empires.
The authors noted that Trump appeared comfortable placing himself in the same discussion as authoritarian rulers known for conquest and fear-driven governance.
On Thursday, Trump shared the same document on his social media platform , writing in the caption: “Presidential historian Dave King; sounds good to me!”
In a separate interview with Axios, Trump also said the ongoing tensions with Iran had shown him that his power had “no limits.” During the recent , he reportedly referred to himself as “the boss” while entering a meeting with world leaders.
