A revolver marked “Made in Pakistan” along with two rounds of ammunition has been recovered from the premises of a madrasa in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The recovery was made on Wednesday afternoon during a raid conducted by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) at a madrasa in the Shripur Gonokbari area under Ashulia Police Station.
According to RAB officials, a patrol team from CPC-2, Nabinagar Camp launched the operation based on intelligence reports suggesting narcotics were being stored on the premises. During the search, officers inspected a partially constructed washroom adjacent to the guardians’ waiting room.
At one stage, they found a torn shopping bag concealed beneath several bricks on the toilet floor. Inside the bag, wrapped in green polythene, was an eight-chamber revolver and two rounds of .22 bore ammunition.
RAB said the firearm’s barrel, trigger, and hammer were intact, and the words “Made in Pakistan” were engraved on its body. The recovered bullets also bore the English letter “T” on the base.
Major Arman Hossain Hridoy, Company Commander of RAB-4 CPC-2, said the weapon was found abandoned and that authorities are now investigating its origin and how it ended up hidden inside the madrasa compound.
The recovered firearm and ammunition have been handed over to Ashulia Police Station, and a case is being filed under the Arms Act.
