Chasing a modest target of 199, the hosts reached 199/4 in just 35.3 overs, thanks largely to an aggressive innings from Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who scored 76 off 58 balls. His attacking approach laid the foundation for the win after Bangladesh lost two early wickets for just 21 runs.
Tanzid formed a crucial 120-run partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto, who contributed a steady 50 off 71 balls. Shanto later retired hurt due to cramps, with the team well on course at 167. Towhid Hridoy (30*) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (8*) calmly guided Bangladesh to victory.
Earlier, New Zealand were bowled out for 198 in 48.4 overs, struggling against disciplined Bangladeshi bowling. Fast bowler Nahid Rana starred with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 32 runs, his second five-wicket haul in ODIs. He struck at key moments, including multiple wickets with the first ball of his spells.
Support came from Shoriful Islam, who picked up two wickets, while Taskin Ahmed, Soumya Sarkar, and Rishad Hossain chipped in with one wicket each.
For New Zealand, Nick Kelly was the lone standout performer, scoring 83 off 102 balls, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to build meaningful partnerships.
The match also marked a milestone for Litton Das, who played his 100th ODI, though he managed just 7 runs.
With this win, Bangladesh have kept the series alive, setting up a decider in the final match.
