U.S. Deploys Third Aircraft Carrier to Middle East Amid Iran–Israel War

Date:

The United States is preparing to deploy a third aircraft carrier to the Middle East as tensions escalate amid the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.

According to a report by Fox News, the U.S. Navy has confirmed that the aircraft carrier USS George H. W. Bush successfully completed its pre-deployment training on Thursday, clearing the way for a potential mission in the region.

The United States Navy said the carrier and its accompanying warships and air wing recently finished the Composite Unit Training Exercise, a mandatory certification process that carrier strike groups must complete before undertaking national missions.

The Fox News report said the carrier strike group is expected to deploy soon and head toward the eastern Mediterranean. The move would reinforce the U.S. military presence in the region, where the world’s largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, had been operating recently.

Meanwhile, images released by the U.S. military show that the USS Gerald R. Ford crossed the Suez Canal on Thursday and is currently positioned in the Red Sea.

Another U.S. aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, is already deployed in the Arabian Sea, supporting operations linked to continued strikes on Iran.

The deployment of additional U.S. naval assets signals Washington’s effort to strengthen its strategic posture in the Middle East as the conflict between Iran and Israel intensifies.
