Allegation of Tk 83 Crore Spent by Dr. Yunus-Led Committee

Date:

A startling allegation has surfaced claiming that the seven-member “July Charter Consensus Commission,” led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, spent Tk 83 crore solely on food over a period of nine months. The accusation has triggered widespread criticism across the country’s political landscape and social media.

A senior BNP leader recently brought the allegation to light during an interview with a private television channel. He questioned how a seven-member commission could spend Tk 83 crore in taxpayers’ money just on meals. Expressing his outrage, he said, “It feels like we are living in the era of monsters or dinosaurs. How can a person eat food worth Tk 450,000 in a single day?”

Following the statement, social media erupted with satire and criticism. A basic calculation based on the allegation suggests that each of the seven commission members spent roughly Tk 430,000 per day on food. That means each member’s hourly food cost amounted to more than Tk 18,000.

As these unbelievable figures circulated online, netizens mockingly asked, “Did they eat golden noodles, platinum pilaf, or unicorn biryani?” During a time of soaring inflation, the alleged expenditure has sparked public fury, with many calling it an “unprecedented waste of state funds.”

Political analysts noted that if the allegation contains even a minimal element of truth, it could become one of the biggest corruption scandals in the country’s history. At a time when ordinary citizens are struggling to afford essential goods, such claims raise serious questions about transparency and accountability in the state.

However, the explosive allegation has not yet been verified by any independent source. Neither the “July Charter Consensus Commission” nor any relevant government body has issued an official statement. The nation now awaits a transparent and credible investigation to uncover the truth.
