Draft Ceasefire Plan to Be Finalized Within 10 Days:Zelensky

Date:

Kyiv, October 27, 2025 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that a draft proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine will be finalized within the next 10 days. He made the remarks in an interview published Monday by the U.S. news outlet Axios.

According to Zelensky, following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, he also met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. During the talks, both sides agreed to prepare a peace proposal based on the ceasefire framework, which is expected to be completed within seven to ten days.

“We have requested our allies to keep the proposal short and to the point,” Zelensky said, adding that the plan would be concise and realistic. However, he expressed skepticism over whether Russia would agree to any such proposal.

Earlier this month, Zelensky held talks with President Trump at the White House, where discussions reportedly became tense. Describing the meeting, he said both leaders discussed the structure of a potential ceasefire along the current frontlines and called the proposal “constructive.”

When the same proposal was raised in a separate meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected it outright.

Meanwhile, President Trump has imposed a new round of sanctions on Russian oil companies — a move welcomed by Zelensky. He said the new sanctions package would make a “visible difference,” predicting that Russia’s oil exports could fall by as much as 50 percent, causing monthly losses of up to $5 billion for Moscow.

Still, Zelensky cautioned that sanctions alone would not be enough to stop Putin. “President Trump is worried about the escalation of war,” he said. “But without meaningful dialogue, it will be impossible to contain the growing intensity of the conflict.”

The Ukrainian president again urged the United States to supply Kyiv with long-range missiles to compel Moscow to return to the negotiating table.
