Dhaka, October 21, 2025 — The Bangladesh Awami League has strongly condemned what it described as a “planned act of mob terrorism” against its peaceful rally in the capital. In a press statement issued Tuesday, the party alleged that activists from opposition groups, including the BNP, launched violent attacks on Awami League leaders and supporters with the direct assistance of police forces.
According to the statement, several party members were severely injured during the assaults and were later denied medical treatment. The party further claimed that many of its activists had been abducted or forcibly disappeared, with ransom demands made for their release.
“The Awami League has always fought to restore democracy and people’s rights,” the statement said. “Yet, for standing up against injustice, our leaders and activists are facing brutal and inhuman persecution.”
The party accused law enforcement agencies of creating “an atmosphere of fear” through arbitrary arrests and politically motivated crackdowns. It demanded the immediate detention of the attackers, proper medical care for the wounded, and the unconditional release of all detained leaders and activists.
The Awami League also urged citizens to remain alert to what it called a conspiracy aimed at destroying the legacy of development achieved under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
“Those who, with the direct support of state machinery, are trying to create anarchy and endanger public safety are pursuing their own political gains,” the party said.
The statement concluded with the slogans: “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu, Long live Bangladesh.”
