Trump Announces Progress in U.S.-India Trade Talks, Praises PM Modi

Date:

Washington, Sept. 10 — U.S. President Donald J. Trump said negotiations between India and the United States to address trade barriers are ongoing and expressed optimism about reaching a successful outcome.

In a post on social media, Trump wrote that he looks forward to speaking with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming weeks. Referring to Modi as his “very good friend,” Trump said he is confident that both nations will be able to overcome difficulties and reach a conclusion beneficial to both sides.

“I am pleased to announce that India, and the United States of America, are continuing negotiations to address the Trade Barriers between our two Nations,” Trump wrote. “I feel certain that there will be no difficulty in coming to a successful conclusion for both of our Great Countries!”

The announcement comes at a time when Washington and New Delhi have been working to deepen economic and strategic ties. Trade has been a point of contention in recent years, with both nations imposing tariffs on certain goods.

Analysts say Trump’s statement signals a willingness from both sides to move forward, potentially opening the door to a new phase of bilateral cooperation.
